Blog EntryThe Masterpiece III - "SELF PORTRAIT"Jun 22, '08 2:05 AM
for everyone

What do you do when the power is out? You pick up a camera and take a photo of yourself!

Thanks to Aquilles Kalixto P. Maraan from the Middle East for sending me this  wonderful gift.

I thought that it was time to change my avatar.  I had my tripod, found good available light inspite of the weather, and used this scarf that was given to me as gift. It's not a keffiyeh, by the way. It just looks like one. Please don't see this self-portrait as a political protest.

I have said many times before, The Afghan Girl serves as my inspiration. With this, I also tried to bring out the Mona Lisa feel. I cannot explain it but this is what came out of my impromptu shoot.

MODEL: PARC
PHOTOGRAPHY: PARC
POST PROCESSING: PARC
LIGHTING: BY FRANK

Took me a couple of shots because a self-portrait with a tripod is harder to do, especially if you're alone in doing it.

Presenting my third masterpiece in this series: my self-portrait.

Blog EntryThe Masterpiece II - "THE EXILE"Jun 4, '08 2:44 AM
for everyone
I just have to do it again but this time I was given a choice to pick among his self-portrait and bring him to my world.

Amazingly, my creative juice is flowing at the moment. So bear with me if you're seeing a lot of these.

Photos are not taken by me but I was asked by the photographer, Edwin Loyola, to create a story out of it.

Blog EntryWant to know what I did for this photo?May 29, '08 6:16 AM
for everyone

There have been a lot of request about my workflow for this particular photo. The truth is, I was experimenting on it (and I still am). It's hard for me to explain the complete process of how I did it.

So, instead of going through the step by step process by documenting it and writing it down, please download the PSD file here, with all layers intact.  (File Size: 11 MB)

Again, this is just an experimental workflow, some people might have better techniques and style. It's not meant to be perfect. Feel free to experiment with your own style, too.

My gift.

Enjoy,

PARC

P.S. If you plan on using the workflow and posting it, all I ask is a credit back to this post. Thanks.

PANORAMATIC

My exhibit opening last Monday was a success (click here). Thanks to everyone who have shown me their support, who've helped me and who've attended the opening. I won't be able to name you one by one but please do know that I am really very grateful for this.

I am at this stage where I think I've done enough for my love for this hobby. I am hoping to find the time to relax for once, until the next challenges come. In looking for new inspirations, I've come across an artwork similar to this photo I have here and thought to try and do the same for myself.

It's not an original idea (credit should go to Leos Pail) but it's a wonderful concept, isn't it?

This goes to all my friends who've always been there for support.

Lastly, I heard this phrase early this evening while having the TV on in the background:

"Photography is a medium that is humanistic and not mechanistic"

I think I've found my mantra.

Thanks again for all the support.

Welcome to my world.”

This would always be what I’d say to those who would take a look at my work. Mixing photography and art opens my world to limitless possibilities. I let my imagination run loose.

I wish to open your eyes to my world and see what I see. It’s a magical, spectacular place. It’s a world reflecting unusual tones and colors, of shadows and light. It’s a union between fantasy and realism. And it’s where a person’s essence is brought out, the best way I see it --- in their eyes.

In my world, not everything is elegantly spotless; not every subject is perfect. But even with their imperfections, it’s still seen as beautiful.

I'm not just a photographer, I'm a storyteller.
